Generally, I LOVE living in Tucson.  But every once in a while I am reminded how much I REALLY LOVE Tucson, and why this is such a great community to live and work.  Last Thursday was one of those moments, when Laura and I attended the graduation of the Greater Tucson Leadership Class of 2016.

If you aren’t familiar with GTL, you should be.  It is a fantastic program that educates an annual cohort of motivated community members from the public and private sectors to learn about the important issues that impact our community.  Ten full-day sessions focus on topics like Criminal Justice, Healthcare, Education, Arts & Culture and more.  Participants increase their understanding of complicated community matters, all the while developing their own leadership skills.  Look around the community, and pretty much anyone who is a ‘mover and shaker’ is graduate of Greater Tucson Leadership.  (Shameless plug: I myself am a graduate of the Class of 2002!)

Anyway, Laura and I attended the GTL graduation to celebrate our very own Hanna Miller.  Little did we know that not only would Hanna graduate from GTL, but she would be honored with the Brigadier General Ronald L. Kurth Award for Outstanding Leadership, selected by her classmates for demonstrating a commitment to our community and positive leadership.  Yay Hanna!!!

It makes me so proud to live in a community where so many people are dedicated to improving it.  Not just sitting on the sidelines, griping and complaining about what is going wrong.  But actually taking the time to study the issues, and being willing to take action.

Anyway, I hope you’ll join us in congratulating Hanna and her classmates for completing the Greater Tucson Leadership program this year.  And if you see Hanna, give her a high-five for receiving the Kurth award.  It couldn’t have happened to a more deserving individual!

Cheers!
