How do I love thee? Let me count the ways …
I love nonprofit employees. How wonderful that so many caring and committed people have dedicated their lives to service and full-time work in the non-profit sector! You gave up the opportunity for a company car and commission-based bonuses to make a real difference. You inspire me.
I love hardworking nonprofit CEO’s who spend many sleepless nights worrying about their next board meeting, making payroll, and getting that big grant. It’s lonely at the top and I am grateful that you are willing to take it on. You motivate me.
I love awesome board members. You show up to board meetings prepared; you ask good questions; you find ways to share the good news about your organization throughout your daily life; you give as generously as you can. You make me swoon.
I love generous donors. Doesn’t matter how big their gifts. I love people who offer up whatever they have to give because they want to be a part of something bigger than themselves. You humble me.
I love my fundraising colleagues. You are generous with your time, your support and your experience. You have chosen a career that most people can’t fathom. And you love it. You make me proud.
I love volunteers. You show up and enthusiastically do the work that nonprofit organizations can’t afford to pay people to do. Your hands are an extension of your heart. You give me hope.
But most of all, I love my business-partner-in-crime Laura, and our loyal sidekick Hanna. You make it fun to come to work everyday. You challenge and support me, and you accept me for who I am. You are the best friends and co-workers a girl could ask for.
Happy Valentines Day!
XOXOXO
Sincerely,
Jenny
